Statement of Purpose

This website is an educational and informational electronic publication of the International Remote Viewing Association [IRVA].

The concluded objective during the founding organizational meeting on March 18, 1999 was to create an organization that would provide a mechanism for evaluating the discipline called "remote viewing," encourage scientifically sound research and the development of new applications, propose ethical standards, and provide overview educational information to the public.

One of IRVA's major tasks is to maintain a credible and responsible Remote Viewing-focused internet site that presents:

  • Objective, science-based testing and evaluation of remote viewing performance
  • Encouragement of, and participation in remote viewing research, applications, and theory development
  • Accurate public education about remote viewing
  • Ethical and responsible standards

Our Policy

IRVA is committed to respecting the privacy of its online visitors. In general, you can visit our website without telling us who you are or revealing anything about yourself.

In the event, however, that you become a member of IRVA, you thereby grant us ongoing permission to:
  • Refer to you by that name or your legal name, if different, in IRVA's publications, whether print, electronic, or other medium, for any lawful purpose.
  • Share your name and associated personally identifiable information with other organizations for purposes of joint conference planning and solicitation.
Any member who desires to have his or her name and/or associated personally indentifiable information excluded from such disclosures must specifically inform IRVA in writing of their wishes.

Our web server automatically recognizes each visitor's domain name, but does not automatically collect personally identifiable information. The organization itself does not utilize cookies in any format. There are times, however, such as when you place a product order or register for an event, that we will collect specific information. IRVA only gathers personally identifiable data, such as names, addresses, zip/postal codes, e-mail addresses, etc., when voluntarily submitted by a visitor. For example, personally identifiable information may be collected in order to respond to a person's stated desire to volunteer time to IRVA, or to request information on how to make a financial donation, to register for events, or to purchase books online. This information is used solely by IRVA or other entities that are involved in the operation of this site for internal purposes. IRVA lists are never sold to third parties. We will only share personally identifiable information with third parties when (1) sharing the information is a necessary operation of the site; for instance, to process a credit card transaction, (2) for purposes of joint conference planning and solicitation, (3) we are required to by law, or (4) when the person submitting the information otherwise authorizes us to share it.

If you choose to provide personally identifiable data, you may receive future information from IRVA -- by mail, electronically, or by telephone -- advising you of upcoming IRVA events, and volunteer and support opportunities. If you do not wish to be contacted with such information, please let us know by writing or sending an e-mail message to the addresses at the top of this page. Other than as stated above, our organization does not share your personal information with any other organization. Please provide your full name and address for exclusion from "future contact" lists.

In order to provide a more comprehensive and useful site, the IRVA website contains links to other websites. Is Credit Card Information Secure?

We care about the safety and security of your transactions. We use high-grade encryption and the https security protocol to communicate with your browser software. This method is the industry-standard security protocol, which makes it extremely difficult for anyone else to intercept the credit card information you send to us. Companies we work with to process credit-card transactions also use high-grade encryption and security protocols.
